Choosing the right dildo comes down to three key elements: shape/size/colour, material, and harness compatibility. Finding just the right dildo when you're shopping for you and a partner can be a challenge, often times the best dildo is two, one for each of you. Here are some ideas to get you thinking about selecting the dildo that fits your fantasy.
What is the perfect shape, size and colour of your dream dildo? What material do you want your dildo to be made from? Do you want a dildo that will be harness compatible?
Lonestar

Dildo shape, size, and colour

  • Are you looking for something with a "realistic" look and feel? Some of our dildos, like Lonestar, Johnny, and the Our Man, are designed to look and feel like penis. Other dildos come with sixty degree curves and ridges that look and feel as if they are from sci-fi heaven.
  • When thinking about shape and size, don't worry too much about getting something that's too long, but you want to make sure the width is right for you. If you've never played with a dildo before, some people experiment first with vegetables to find the right size.
  • Some of our customers wonder why anyone would care about the colour of a dildo, and we have other customers who shop for dildos to go with their bedding. Silicone dildos come in the widest range of colours, and whether it's important to you or not, you no longer have to settle for bright peach or ivory with all your sex toys.

Dildo materials

Dildos are available in a variety of materials, each with their own pros and cons.
  • Silicone rubber dildos are our first choice for quality, variation in shape, size, and colour, and ease of cleaning.
  • Jelly rubber dildos are inexpensive and can be great beginner toys, as long as you use a condom on your toy.
  • There are several variations in Cyberskin dildos, but they all offer an incredibly soft feel, without the high cost of silicone Vixskin toys. As with plain rubber toys we recommend using condoms on your cyberskin dildos.
  • We like to think of our metal and glass dildos as "special occasion" sex toys. They have a durability and feel that is unparalleled, but their intensity may not be for every day use.
  • Some people are concerned about the safety of sex toy materials, and if you're interested we suggest reading up on the safety of sex toy materials, and things to consider if you have allergies or multiple chemical sensitivities.
Harnesses

Harness compatible dildos

If you think you may ever want to use your dildo in a strap on harness it's best to start with something that is harness compatible. This means making sure your dildo has a flared base wide enough so it won't slip through a standard harness, and making sure you choose something that is firm enough that it won't flop around so much penetration will be impossible. Our recommendation is to stick with the silicone dildos, almost all of which are made with strap on use in mind.
