Maggie's

Maggie's is an organization run for and by sex workers. Their mission is to assist sex workers in efforts to live and work with safety and dignity. Founded on the belief that in order to improve our circumstances, Maggie's believes sex workers must control their own lives and destinies.

Service description:

• Peer resource centre and drop-in
• promotion of safer sex practices and materials
• support for victims of violence or sexual assault
• information on legal issues surrounding sex trade
• referrals to legal and other community services
• staffed by current and former sex workers
• peer volunteer opportunities
• Prostitutes Safe Sex Project: peer education on sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS
• distribution of safer sex literature, condoms and other materials to sex workers outreach
• publishes Bad Trick Sheet and Bad Call Sheet: listings of men who abuse sex workers
