When I first started working at Come As You Are a decade ago, my sister thought it would be cute to crank call me with a request for a rather large leather dildo. Within moments, we located a supplier, and offered to place a special order on her behalf. She said she’d get back to us and hung up only to call me back immediately to confess that it was her.

I love this story because it illustrates a couple of fundamental facts about who we are at Come As You Are. The first is that we will go out of our way to find just about anything for you. We may not have it in stock, and we might not be able to order it for you, but at the very least we can point you in the right direction and help you along in your search.

The second is that we take sex pretty seriously. That isn’t to say sex and sex toys, DVDs, books and workshops aren’t fun - they’re the most fun! - but we take what we do seriously and we take your sex lives seriously. This is what our core value ‘working harder to make sex easier’ is all about.

The thing is, almost none of the conversations we have that begin with ‘I know this is really weird, but...’ turn out to be all that weird. We’re still as bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as the first day we opened our doors in 1997, but to say we’ve seen it all in the past 14 years would be an understatement.

We’re all individuals with different desires and diverging ideas about sex, but so many of us have had similar sexual experiences, the same challenges selecting the ‘right’ vibrator, or shared concerns about sexual health.

The Dance of D/S Workshop
Cultivating Dominant and Submissive Body Language

A dominant / submissive dynamic can be a beautiful thing to experience and to watch. The flow of power between two or more people is a lot like a dance – in fact, specific physical motions and positions can lend D/s much of its flavour and beauty. This class will explore the use of body language and protocol to reinforce your dominant/submissive dynamic, focusing on grace, subtlety, confidence and attentiveness for both dominants and submissives. There will be lots of ideas to get you started on developing your own smooth dance of power. Areas we’ll cover include opening doors / walking through, kneeling / receiving kneeling, handing something over to be taken / gracefully taking, assistance with dressing and undressing, walking, sitting, waiting, voice, touch, sex and play.
