Annanda DeSilva

Annanda DeSilva

Annanda has been happily working at Come As You Are since 2009, when she arrived in a flurry of colour and set her sights on decorating and bedazzling everything. Thus, in addition to spending tons of time on the store floor with co-workers and customers, she is now our Visual Merchandiser, Window Display Designer, Art Show Co-ordinator and the Organizer for the whimsical and sexy Erotic Arts and Craft Fair! For some balance and to put the other side of her brain to good use, Annanda has recently taken over our Accounts Payable department, where she gets to play with numbers like she used to do at Math Camp.

One of the many things she finds fulfilling about her work at Come As You Are is the opportunity to create an accessible and comfortable environment to talk about and explore aspects of sexuality that are often silenced in the larger world.

In the event that she is not here at the store, Annanda loves to cook, eat, sew, crochet, hang out with cats and occasionally perform really campy burlesque dance numbers around Toronto. She can be reached at annanda@comeasyouare.com.

Noah Kloeze

Noah is CAYA’s newest addition, arriving after happily working in the organic grocery industry. From fondling zucchinis to polishing cherries, Noah’s appreciation for a lush piece of produce is genuine, and considerable. Although certain of few things, there is one thing they know for sure: there is something remarkable about food that can really satisfy a craving.

Coming out as a Deliciously Disabled, Queer Cripple

With Andrew Morrison-Gurza

This workshop will introduce you to a part of the Queer Community we rarely discuss – Persons with Disabilities who identify as LGBTQ+ (The Queer Cripple). Queers with Disabilities are sorely underrepresented in our homo-normative, body beautiful culture, and I aim to change that. A combination of education and personal experiences will invite you into a conversation around the Queer Cripple, the lived experiences navigating both sexuality and disability (ie. What it actually feels like to be queer and disabled), and what they can offer the LGBTQ+ community overall. Participants will openly explore the mythology and fear around sex and disability, and consider why we are afraid to talk about disability in the LGBTQ+ community. Ultimately, through frank, open and honest conversations around disability, sexuality and queerness, the workshop will provide the tools to welcome the Queer Community into the conversation around disability and make it truly accessible to everyone under the rainbow.
