A little TLC this Labour Day

As a democratically run worker-owned co-operative, you know how obsessed we are with labour rights and the rights of the worker! This Labour Day, we're taking the opportunity to talk about the relationship between TLC, Labour Day, and sexual health and pleasure. 🤓
TLC you say?
That’s right! TLC. The major historical labour organization that played a key role in making Labour Day a holiday in Canada: the Trade and Labour Congress of Canada! 🤓 🤓 TLC formed the Canadian Labour Union in 1886 and eventually became the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC). The TLC successfully lobbied to make Labour Day an official holiday in Canada in 1894 and lead to the eventual creation of the Federal Department of Labour.
So what does this little history lesson of Canadian labour movements have to do with sexual health and pleasure? Nothing.
Oh no, WAIT! Everything actually.
EVERYTHING.
Labour Day was originally developed to honour the labour movement's fight for a standard eight-hour workday; a widespread demand in middle-capitalism that continues to be one of THE biggest achievements of labour movements today. The idea is that we as humans deserve 8 hours of recreation and 8 hours of rest to the 8 hours of labour we're expected to put out (pun intended!) in a 24 hour day.
As an anti-capitalist co-operative, we think we can do better. Much better. Our vision is 8/8/8, 4/7 days a week and maybe even shorter or more flexible work days when we can ‘cause we all know the amount of labour required in just existing, especially under capitalism. We aim to improve conditions for our workers by working towards paying a living wage so we can all AFFORD to take 3 days off each week. Without access to adequate rest, adequate relaxation, adequate recreation and adequate resources, we don't have access to the time, energy and agency we need to nurture and explore sexual health, sexual pleasure and our desire.
So this year, we're closed on Labour Day (YAY!) AND we're having a Labour Day Sale all week-long (DOUBLE YAY!)
