What Makes A Baby

Founding CAYA Co-operative worker-owner, Cory Silverberg, has collaborated with Canadian artist Fiona Smyth to produce this amazing children's book for every kind of family and every kind of kid! Many books that have come before this one focus on a very limited variety of ways of making babies and families, often leaving out families with adopted children, families with queer or trans-parents, families that conceive using modern technology (artificial insemination, surrogacy) and so on. Instead of telling one narrow story, "What Makes A Baby" makes no assumptions and, through the simplicity of the narration and the vibrancy of the illustrations, lays down the basics and encourages a dialogue to be opened about the specifics of our own stories! Truly groundbreaking, What Makes A Baby is a warm, approachable and engaging book that recognizes the gorgeous diversity of our families.
